Empowering creators and collectors with easy minting, flexible payments and enhanced accessibility to generative art

Ahead of the curve

For the first time, artists and galleries now have the ability to mint generative art digital artworks directly from their Shopify storefronts using Art Blocks and Highlight Gengine. This integration into the Shopify eCommerce ecosystem also allows for a variety of payment methods, including credit card and cryptocurrency, enhancing both the creator's and collector's experience.

Since 2015, Verisart has been a consistent leader in the art-tech world, pioneering innovations by collaborating with top companies and creators. Our journey began with providing eBay with the first blockchain certificates in 2018. This initiative was further enhanced with a patent for blockchain Certificates of Authenticity (COAs) in 2021.  Verisart has curated drops for Superrare and Opensea and in 2022, curated and minted Artsy’s inaugural digital collectible drop featuring 22 leading contemporary artists.

Making generative art more accessible

Now we’ve partnered with Art Blocks and Highlight.xyz to integrate both engines into our Shopify app. Merchants and creators can now mint and sell generative art via Shopify and WooCommerce

"We’re excited to bring generative art digital collectibiles to a broader audience and likewise expand commercial opportunities for digital artists. The partnership with Art Blocks and Highlight Engine are in line with our mission to support artists across all mediums. With record sales for generative art earlier this year, the demand for such art from both galleries and collectors is burgeoning."

Robert Norton, Verisart’s co-founder and CEO

Art Blocks Engine integration was first showcased during the GEN/GEN: Generative Generations exhibition at Gazelli Art House in September 2023, which spanned six decades of generative art evolution featuring prominent artists Loren Bednar, Darien Brito, Sougwen Chung, Harold Cohen, Brendan Dawes, Ernest Edmonds, Licia He, Tyler Hobbs, Ben Kovach, William Latham, Rhea Myers, Piter Pasma, Monica Rizzolli, Melissa Wiederrecht, and Stephen Willats. Using the Verisart Shopify app GAZZEL.iO was able to offer a simultaneous sale of digital and physical artworks for Loren Bednar, Darien Brito, Rhea Myers and Monica Rizzolli.

Highlight Gengine integration launched at Art Dubai 2024 where Verisart supported the interactive generative piece Miss Metaverse by Ana María Caballero & Melissa Wiederrecht, which integrated viewers' images into the artwork.

Both engines were used in our recent collaborative exhibition Awaken, Metamagical Hands with Gazelli Art House, curated by John Maeda and Robert Norton, which features pioneering artists like Robbie Barrat, Joshua Davis, Golan Levin, LIA, Lauren Lee McCarthy, John Maeda, and Helena Sarin. This exhibition underscores the fusion of human creativity and computational potential.

"Our collaboration with Verisart and Art Blocks Engine effortlessly blends the digital and physical realms in the art world. It provides an infrastructure where artists can work conveniently, reaching both new and traditional art audiences."

CORONATION by LIA and Joshua Davis, featured the use of Highlight Engine to produce 99 unique generative art still images. Using the Verisart Shopify app, the GAZELLi.O storefront enabled collectors to select their distinct token from the 99 outputs. Once a token was chosen, collectors could redeem a complimentary Giclée print on Hahnemühle paper of their digital artwork.

Customization and flexibility

At Verisart, we place a strong emphasis on creator control, focusing on customization and adaptability throughout the entire creation and collection process. Our goal is to provide a suite of options that not only streamline but also enrich the experience for both creators and collectors:

Set contract and minting limits: Verisart allows setting GWEI limits on contract deployment and minting, offering greater control to artists.

Optimize gas fees: Merchants choose who bears the costs — the customer or the creator, thereby optimizing the sales process.

Go phygital: Artists can pair their physical products with digital collectibles, extending the utility and appeal of both.

Branded Certificates of Authenticity: Each digital collectible comes with a blockchain-verified Certificate of Authenticity, which creators can customize to enhance the collector experience.

Choice of payment methods: Collectors can check out however they like, including with credit card, Paypal, Apple Pay or crypto.

A leap towards inclusivity

"Making generative art accessible is at the core of our mission…allowing purchases with credit cards, not just cryptocurrency, broadens the audience base and contributes to inclusivity."

Art Blocks and Verisart’s technology facilitates this inclusivity. This partnership is not just about technology but about expanding the generative art community, tapping into new markets and inspiring fresh conversations around digital art. Digital artists now have access to a broader spectrum of revenue possibilities, which increases visibility and accessibility to the wider generative art market for creators and collectors alike.

"For us, it's about making sophisticated technology approachable for creators and collectors alike and this integration takes us one step closer to that vision."

Robert Norton, Verisart’s co-founder and CEO

Verisart, Highlight and Art Blocks Engine prove that when technology, art and commerce intersect, the possibilities are not just generative; they are limitless.
