What there is to say.
Jef Artpoint is an alter ego and signifies the identification of the artist with particular aspects of viewing the world. It all appears to have started with a disagreement between a son and his father in 1987. The artist’s father, a successful painter of abstract art in the 70s and 80s, vehemently disagreed with his son’s assertion that a computer can serve as canvas and paintbrush and that the resulting images can be a real work of art. The realization that everything that was meant to be art has the capacity to turn into art became very clear in the mind of the son. Art needs a means of transport for its unique message in order to have the capacity to be perceived by mankind; art itself does not appear to care about whether this means consists of sounds, paintbrushes or pixels, as long as art is permitted to exist. Without the freedom of its own unique appearance, art as such would lose its authenticity. The gift of a vivid imagination, the talent to scrutinize every perception, and the desire to observe from a variety of angles enrich Jef Artpoint’s world and as a consequence his art.
