ENGAGEMENT ACTS | STILLS SEQUENCE

The Engagement Acts project began as a video series documenting Morucchio's performative actions in a desolate seascape. Using controlled shots, stark contrasts, and a limited color palette, the work creates an alienating atmosphere. Morucchio engages with natural elements like tree trunks, rocks, and sand, performing cathartic, primal gestures reminiscent of earlier works such as Eidetic Bush, Play God, Sri Yantra, and Rivoluzioni. The project debuted as a video projection in The Scent of Time exhibition, curated by Caterina Corni in Dhaka. Alongside the video, digitally processed images from the performances were printed on small aluminum squares. In 2024, Morucchio expanded the project into the Stills Sequence series, selecting nine key frames from each video to create photographic prints. Mounted on aluminum and framed in black shadow boxes, each piece captures the most significant moments of each performance.
