“Train Ride Through Bosnia” depicts a snowy winter landscape as seen from the window of a train. It is the view of a quaint village in the distance— blurred and defocused. The use of loose, fluid brushstrokes and the play of warm and cool tones capture the fleeting qualities of light and colour. "Train Through Bosnia" conveys the impression of the moment rather than a highly detailed representation of the scene.
Train Ride Through Bosnia
My train rolls by Bosnia's hills,
As I soak in the peaceful scene,
Charming villages, so quaint and still,
With snow-topped roofs, so white they gleam.
The little windows, they draw me in,
As I imagine the stories they hold,
Of laughter, love, and life combined,
Where each and every home unfolds.
The wintery dusk has come, painting the sky,
With a soft and gentle hue,
And the village's beauty, it only grows high,
As I imagine what I see anew.
Do the villagers too, look out from their window sills,
At trains passing by with a hum?
And do they, like me, long to know,
Each traveller's stories of wonder,
yet to come.
The train moves on, but the memory stays,
Of the village on the hill,
And my thoughts will be with it always,
As I bask in its beauty’s thrill.
