The performance/ concept artwork Gjörva is a multi layered piece involving creating new art and a platform/market for it.
The new art involves creating digital certificates registered to the block chain for performace/ concept art that happens in time or space and can not be repeated.
The certificate provides ownership over a performance/ concept artwork which the artist can transfer to a gallery, collector or to keep for him/herself.
This opens a broad new world for participating artists that can now choose the legacy of their performance and or concept art. Giving them power to sell or pass ownership of their art just like other traditional artworks, for example paintings and or sculptures.
Nothing worth doing can be accomplished alone. That's why one big layer of Gjörva is to found a community for artists that want to participate in the revolution of this solidification of performance/ concept art. The community is called Gjörva which is a play on two Icelandic words, gjörningur and varðveisla (performance and preservation).
An essential component to this is creating and launching a website with a manifesto and members list.
Which can be found here: www.gjorva.is
Gjörva's purpose is to create new art, with the support of the community. That's why another layer of the performance is to create a new market and standard for performance/ concept certified art.
As an effort to do this the performance/ concept artwork titled MOM air, 2020 by Odee will be sold at an auction by Iceland's leading auction house and art dealership, Gallerí Fold. An event that will take place mid may, 2021.
This will be the first time a performance/ concept art is sold by the Gallerí Fold, and possibly the first time an artwork like this is sold worldwide.
