From the artist Horeekei: The Koi (Japanese carp) is a symbol of perseverance and courage. It swims upstream against the current until it reaches the top of the stream and ascends to the heavens in the form of a dragon. The gingko leaf symbolises longevity and profound endurance, and is the emblem of Tokyo, the artist’s home. The hand painted kanji (運命) translate to destiny. We cannot control our destinies but with perseverance and courage we can perhaps steer them in the right direction.
