Bird's Eye Jasper - 25.95 carats
Description

One of my favorite materials, Bird's Eye Jasper has stunning patterns and will definitely take center stage of your next jewelry project. Bird's eye jasper is likely actually a volcanic rock called rhyolite. The "eyes" are created by minerals growing during the flow and deformation of the lava as it solidifies. Jasper is a microcrystalline form of quartz (SiO2) and can form in a variety of geologic settings. Since there are so many ways that it can form, there are an equally wide variety of types of jasper that have been discovered all over the world. This piece has a pair of beautiful off-set "eyes" that will make a breath-taking pendant or broach. Care & Setting Bird's Eye Jasper is a relatively soft stone (Mohs hardness = ~6.5-7) so will do well set in a piece that is protected from bumps and knocks like a pendant. See our care and cleaning instructions for more details on how to maintain the appearance of your purchase or the FAQs for more info!
