In February 2021, artist Herdill (Herdís Hlíf) launched a campaign as part of a concept artwork titled The Venting Machine. The artwork started as a sticker hidden in a city bus in Reykjavík, Iceland and lives on on the @venting_machine_ instagram account. The sticker had a phone number and invited the reader to send a text saying how they are feeling and why. The texts with the feelings collect in the phone, the Venting Machine, making it a vessel for a mosaic portrait of the emotional state of people on the go in Reykjavík. The texts are then posted to instagram, one by one. The artwork is ongoing.
