About the Work

On the occasion of his solo exhibition, MATCH POINT, in the Chapel of St. Agnes, KÖNIG EDITIONS is pleased to announce a limited-edition print by Evgen Čopi Gorišek. Picking up on the theme of tennis players captured in action, HEAVY FOREHAND features a female athlete in the act of producing the titular groundstroke, the ball travelling to the right of the picture’s frame, propelled by the full force of the body as it hovers above the court. The tennis player is characteristic of the young painter’s unique approach to the medium, combining traditional oil backgrounds with spray painted bodies, all of which bear the artist’s signature smiley face, a gesture that renders the visage at once anonymous and universal. For this edition, the artist will hand finish said tennis ball on each print in acrylic, creating one of a kind works for each collector of the limited run.
