Original Story: April 30, 2023
KSA 6.5 ENM+ 10457604 - 1976 OPC #200 Ken Dryden AS
1976-77 was the season of cards that I first started to collect. I was 10. A few of these cards from the set were first graded in 2021. Ken Dryden's card is one of my favourites and is a reminder of how powerful the Habs were that season and that decade for that matter.
The Canadiens won the Stanley Cup that season under head coach Scotty Bowman. Dryden and Larocque received the Vezina trophy. The Hart, Lester B. Pearson (now Ted Lindsay), Conn Smythe and Art Ross trophies went to Guy Lafleur. Larry Robinson received the James Norris trophy. Up until this 2022-23 season, the Canadiens held the most points in a season record of 132. They still hold the record for greatest goal differential of +216, most Stanley Cup overtime wins with the 4th in 1977, longest undefeated steak for home games at 34, and most Stanley Cup finals sweeps since best of 7 introduced at 6 with the 6th in 1977.
To commemorate the significance of this card, I have minted an NFT that can be seen on OpenSea: https://opensea.io/assets/matic/0x29ba4aed7188c22ca0910eb2052113dfd87d0d52/5
