Norma de Saint Picman
Heavenly Manna, Red Clouds, to Matej Pičman
Description

Noravisionsolar project started in 2018, with the creation of the Queen of Sun Diptyque, combining acrylic painting and assemblage, and continued later essentially with plein-air-created works in a postmodern impressionistic and expressionistic manner.
The Current painting, Heavenly Manna, red Clouds stands as the second variant of Heavenly Manna in turquoise colors, depicting Hydrangeas in summer. The original dimensions were 164 x 100 x 4 cm. As a testament to the plein air painting, work is made in the garden, in the autumn, the rose sunset sky is melted with the tree bearing red fruits, however, red fruits reminding blood color are also covering the grass, and symbolically unveiling a synthesis of Heaven on Earth, thus bearing Symbols of Christian Tradition linked with red color, raisin, vine, blood, life...
The project took an activist position yet from the beginning as a promoter of clever and sustainable recycling and upcycling of solar panels, driven also by rather troubling information spread from IRENA’s report in 2016.
The solution in the future is the production of harmless conductors, and the current problem can partly be solved by converting the solar panel to the image base, murals in subways, airports, and tunnels – (rough rock tunnels, on the way from Bologna to Monaco …) as well following the model of the art platform Paddle 8, which conducted an auction of painted solar panels in summer 2018.
In Slovenia, the distinguished solar producer, BISOL Company, actively participates in the European recycling platform and also fulfills its social and environmental responsibility through collaboration with French-Slovenian multimedia artist Norma De Saint Picman, who imparts artistic value to decommissioned solar modules.
With an awareness of the importance of environmental and social responsibility, BISOL Group has been collaborating for several years with the academic painter Norma De Saint Picman, who uses damaged solar modules as canvases for her paintings during production. Picman first encountered the idea of painting on solar modules through an auction of artistically decorated panels on the American online platform Paddle 8.
"I have always been fascinated by the transformation of solar energy into electricity, as the process organically connects with the concept of sustainability and the 'upcycling' concept, where we enrich and give new function and value to waste material through artistic creation. The flow of electrical energy is replaced by visually aesthetic-experiential energy that arises in the dialogue between the panel and the viewer.
The painting 'Blooming Magnolia' enriches their business premises.
While her first paintings on solar modules were created using acrylic techniques, the extensive cycle Noravisionsolar is based on classical oil techniques. All of Picman's works follow plein-air principles, as they are painted outdoors, mostly in spring. Thematically, the paintings draw inspiration from classical painting techniques such as landscapes, veduta, floral still life, urban motifs, and portraits of famous personalities. Individual cycles of her works have been presented in dialogue with magnificent historical architectural environments, such as the Glass Cathedral Santa Chiara on the Venetian island of Murano, Plečnik's lapidary, and Strmol Castle. The just-concluded exhibition at Bogenšperk Castle continues in the virtual gallery Noravisionsolarmetaverse - The Garden of Eden. From the beginning of 2018 to the present day, Picman has decorated more than sixty solar panels out of the planned one hundred, actively seeking a suitable exhibition space of castle dimensions.
The paintings use the concept of the ready-made, in a changed contextual context they are placed into the historical course of time and at the same time have a positive influence with their decorative, aesthetic, expressive, and energetic value on the life of viewers – users, solve the problem of destruction of old panels and harmful effects on the environment while also providing revenue for artists and others – gallerists, auction houses, curators – in the Noravision Decentralised Arts ecosystem.
The very first artwork was done in collaboration with Suncontract’s CEO, Mr. Gregor Novak, and a Blockchain Lady, using sandblasting techniques to equip their new business premises.
In 2020 series of paintings that summarize the night’s motifs is Venetian, Rialto, including the pictures of the flooded Saint Marco Square in Venice, which also points to climate change.
