Nikita Zigura’s sculpture Southern Night is a continuation of his Welkin series. A barely visible face resembling a mask draws the viewers’ attention to the harmonious inner life, the familiar space obscured by darkness.
The female portrait shines with the nighttime light of constellations. Through it, we can see the starry sky, one of the most striking visions in the world. The bronze figure polished to a high luster conveys the special shining that dissolves all that is material in an allusion to the works of the sculptor Constantin Brancusi.
