An imagined mixed portrait of two powerful women in Art — the African curator Koyo Kouoh and the Slovenian artist, architect, and painter Alenka Kham Pičman. Both passed away in May 2025 — Koyo suddenly, in the midst of intense preparations for the Venice Biennale; Alenka’s farewell unfolded more gradually, yet it came far too soon.
In this tribute, black cables evoke long, flowing hair, merging into a heating accelerator — a device with a barometer that lures the gaze like a heart monitor or a clock. It becomes a symbolic measure of time, the moment breath stops. Stones from the graveyard are delicately woven into the hair, while larger stones from Sveto, Karst — where Alenka’s studio was located — are incorporated into the pedestal.
Two radically different artistic destinies, yet shockingly intertwined by the sequence of time.
