Inspired By the Saint George's Altar painting is part of a series by the versatile artist, architect, and designer Alenka Kham Picman, known for her excellence in painting and drawing. This particular artwork was created during the ArsAvitel Artistic Symposium at Legen in 2009, hosted at Stojan’s property. Alongside this masterpiece, three other paintings from the series include "Saint George with a Dragon" and "Two Angels," all inspired by sculptures on the left side altar in the nearby Saint George's Early Medieval Church, where the Virgin Mary is the central figure between two saints. Golden pale yellows vibrate into complementary tones of blue turquoise, Alenka's favorites.
Alenka Kham Picman is celebrated for her adept execution of free virtuoso lines, particularly in architectural, urban, and seascape landscapes, as well as sacral sculptures. Her use of shiny and luminous color spots, independently positioned, adds a playful dimension to her compositions. Notably, as a student of the iconic Slovenian architect Josef Plecnik, she skillfully weaves together traditional architectural drawings with modern Fine Arts concepts.
This unique artwork, representing the vision and creativity of Alenka Kham Pičman, is valued at approximately 5,000 euros, acknowledging the artistic merit and cultural resonance encapsulated within.
Ownership history:
Mr. Darko Stojan, the owner of Stojan’s Property, received a painting from Alenka as an expression of gratitude for his gesture of kindness and as compensation, making him the very first owner. The painting was initially placed in the Conference Hall alongside three others at a Sun Hotel Property before a reorganization of spaces. With the change in the concept of Smart Village Sun, the entire building was gradually partly divided.
We proudly document a shift of the ownership of the painting from Mr. Darko Stojan to Attorney Mme Rosana Lemut Strle, becoming the new owner.
