Lucretia | Puzzling Renaissance | Tangible Series | Reinterpretation of the Detail from Lucas Cranach’s Lucretia - **Production Year**: 2025 - **Type**: Mixed Media - **Dimensions**: 103×67x1 cm - **Medium**: Glass paste, inkjet printing, painted wood, dyed cotton | 1260, 2x2 cm, printed glass tiles, 73 mt Gold-Painted Cotton Threads | Unique Piece.
This new artwork in the “Tangible” series of the “Puzzling Classics” project shifts from digital, two-dimensional compositions to a three-dimensional mosaic. Using glass paste tiles crafted from photographic fragments of the Basilica of San Marco’s mosaic flooring, it transforms digital imagery into a tactile, physical medium. Gold-painted cotton threads fill the gaps, unifying the mosaic and evoking Byzantine gold tesserae.
- Material Shift: Digital “tiles” become physical glass paste tiles, bridging virtual and physical realms.
- Sensory Experience: The mosaic’s texture invites touch, enhancing visual and tactile engagement.
- Gold Threads: These add structural unity and a shimmering, traditional aesthetic.
Conceptual Significance:
- Blends historical mosaic techniques with digital innovation.
- Transforms ephemeral digital fragments into enduring physical forms.
- Expands the project into mixed-media, redefining boundaries between digital and tangible art.
This piece launches a new series, deepening the project’s exploration of tradition, materiality, and multisensory engagement while balancing fragility and strength.
