'Alice: In Wonderland' is the first installment of the 'Trippy Alice' digital collage series by Ishq Jeffrey, a digital artist and creator from Kuala Lumpur. The background image of this digital collage is made up of random pages from the digitized second edition of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland's book, published by Macmillan and Co. of London in 1866. Inspired by Lewis Carroll’s Alice and all the inhabitants of the Wonderland, 'Trippy Alice' is about following your imagination and and being in a perpetual child-like state of free-association, while trying to remain unchanged in a world that constantly attempts to censor imagination and put a limit over your child-like wonder. 'Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland' and 'Through the Looking-Glass, And What Alice Found There' by Lewis Carrol are the artist's all time favourite books. Whenever she feels like she is stuck in a rut, Ishq would 'spend' some time with 'Alice'. The artist believes that each one of us can learn something about ourselves from Alice – if only we look in the right direction. Alice is the initiate who have finally masters the unseen/the other world (‘Wonderland’ or the ‘Looking-Glass World’). She awakens to her true ‘be-ing’ and full potential as a human being. She comes to know Truth. We can, too.
