Random Assembly Mosaic

Featuring

The works entitled Random Assembly Mosaic represent the embryonic phase of the Puzzling project. In these works, photographic tiles are selected and assembled on the basis of color and geometric affinities. This is a first step in bringing order to the chaos of the thousands of messy tiles used in >> The Rape of Venice and serves as preparation for the >> Puzzling Classics series. Indeed, in the last one, the choice and placement of tiles aim to reinterpret a pictorial work while maintaining a visual link to the original painting.

In Random Assembly Mosaic, starting from the random and chaotic arrangement of photographic tiles (obtained by deconstructing the original design of the mosaic mantle of St. Mark's Basilica), a series of two-dimensional and square works emerge. Each work consists of 100 photographic tiles, ideally representing parts of the floor used for The Rape of Venice.
